Hey guys,
I'm in need of some professional help concerning a Winchester Model 12 I have.
I've had all the 'local experts' give their opinion.

I'd love to find a definative answer, but I doubt getting a letter for it would even tell.

Is there any forums on the net that would have a collection of experts about Model 12s that would be as useful as AR15.com is to the black rifle world?

Thanks for the link.

I've a Model 12 that dates to 1951.  It is in excellent condition, but unfortunately, it has a Cutts Comp on the end, yet the barrel is marked for restriction (in this case, 'SKEET').

I've heard that Winchester never marked the barrels on Cutts guns, but others saying it could happen.  I'm wondering if a letter would tell if the gun came from Winchester with the Cutts or if it was added later.  Would there be any other way to tell, such as a mechanical difference?

The original barrell was skeet, which is just too limiting, and some one added the curts which is adjusting!

I had one of those Poly Choke things on a nice 11-48 which I sawed off ,and regreat it forever!

Is your cutts adjusting?

Of this style Cutts, it is improbable that 'someone' added it, as the job looks too good.

Since Winchester had Lyman install Cutts on 'factory Cutts' guns, the big question I have is if this gun was one of those (where Winchester had Lyman install the Cutts, send the barrel back to Winchester, and then off to the gunshop), or if this is one where Winchester sent the gun off to the gunshop, and then it made it back to Lyman for a Cutts.

Conventional wisdom says that if the barrel is marked for constriction, then the cuts was added after it left the factory, but there are credible reports that say this is not always the case.  Like all things, especially gun related, just about anything could happen.

On this particular gun, it doesn't matter too much, as everyone expects to see a Cutts on it.  And, if it didn't come with the Cutts from the factory, not much could be done now anyways, as no one wants a shotgun with a short barrel.

BTW, I'm not familiar with an 'adjusting' Cutts, but would assume it would look something like a PolyChoke.  in this case, it is an expansion chamber with multiple slots cut in it, and then a 'spreader' type restriction on the muzzle end.

Yes I see what you you are talking about, you can punch in Cutts chokes, and you will find the chamber and shot-gun and lenght of barrell!

The price is from 400 to less!  Non adjustable  No Poly choke!
