I just a SF IVS for my 870 and for some reason the butt pad screws (look like wood screws) do not tighten down into the stock. In fact, they just slide right in the intended holes without any tightening etc. Now I have installed several of these in the past and have never run across this before. I tried calling SpeedFeed today but the guy that I was routed to for an answer was out and didn't return my call. Just figured I would ask here also.

On a side note: if the holes are stripped for some reason is there any kind of compound I can add to the screws to keep the butt pad from coming off without it being permanent? Or should I just see about sending it back for replacement? I got it at Midway. Thanks for any suggestions

The holes are stripped or oversized.  There should be some friction on the screws.  If it is new, it sounds like the holes were drilled too big at the factory.  I would personally have it replaced by either Midway or Speedfeed.  I bet you could get Midway to pay return shipping as it is a defective part from them.  There is no need to repair a brand new part.

There was no tension at all when I installed the butt pad screws so they may be over sized.

the holes were probably drilled wrong.
id either have it replaced or use a different screw.
The only gripe I have had with my Speedfeed IV thus far is the small "hump" and "gap" near the trigger housing.
otherwise..great stock

I talked with Midway today. They said that the screws were probably too small. The guy on the phone was great. He said to try a bigger screw and if that didn't work, send it back with the screws that were sent with it and they would refund my money or replace the stock. I just didn't want to try to fix it myself, screw it up and then be told that I messed it up worse and am stuck with it.

I just got that same stock set and had the same problem as you.  I just got some bigger screws and it worked great.  Love the stock BTW.

Awesome shotgun! Glad to hear I was not the only one this had happened to. Either way Midway set my mind at ease with the issue.

Nice!
My only gripe is that little "hump" near the trigger guard on the handle.
Ive modded my stock the get rid of that horrid gap so that "hump" no longer bothers me
