Why doesn't anyone make a rock-solid, tactical speed loader for the Reminton 870? There are so many creative and capable companies providing various accessories for firearms, yet no one makes this item. Even if you had to replace every part in the receiver it would be worth it. |

No market for it? Seriously, the market for an item like that has got to be small to non-existent. The only time I really see speed loaders being used are in 3-gun matches, and that would be in Open division. If you are running an 870 in Open, you are not competitive (and spare me the lecture of how a pump gun can be used as quickly as a semi, because the guys who can actually do that can be counted on one hand). |

I ask because one on the most talked about deficiencies for a shotgun is the slow speed of reloading. It seems that if a decent, generic system could be developed it could apply to all shotguns, everywhere. It would be the norm, rather than a USPSA, Open Class oddity. If I had to buy a new 870 to get this feature built-in, I would. Who are the companies which make them? |

ArmsTec (Tec Loaders) is the only ones making speed loaders that I am aware of. They make them for a wide variety of shotguns, including the 870 (Remington 870, 1100, 11-87; Mossberg 500, 590; Winchester 120, 1200, 1300; Benelli M1, M3, M4 & M1014). There are several other companies that make Tec-compatible loaders, and I kind of group them in the same lot. There are some others companies making something like a secondary mag tube that you can draw shells from, but the inherent flaw is that it makes the shotgun really heavy to start. The only really other viable option that would be somewhat usable in a tactical environment is to have a magazine-loaded shotgun. Saiga is the only real player in that market right now. Other have tried, with limited success. |
