Just purchased a Rem 1100 Tactical for an upcoming front sight class. I have another 1187 that has the DMW easyloader installled... its a wonderful thing. My question is this... is the DMW easyloader appropriate for Police/Tactical work, or should I stick with the Remington 1100 competition master style gate release? What do you fellas think? |

I have never really tried to master the easyloader, but one question that would immediately come to mind for both home / personal defense as well as Police work is where you are going to carry the loaders. Especially in a HD environment ammo that is not on the gus is not likely to be with you when you need it. In this age of Patrol rifles I really don't see cops taking time to strap on a thigh carrier full of easyloaders with the shotgun unless they have no option for a carbine / rifle. So if I had to decide between the easyloader and the CM style gate release I would unhesitatingly take the simpler option. |

You're not getting what an easyloader is. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=786587&t=11082005 This is an easyloader. They're not big mag tubes. Its a gate release that replaces the factory gate, allowing both the bolt to shut and the loading door to open to insert rounds in the tube. |
Ahh...shows my ignorance, no? Unlike 3 Gun. real situations are not always about ammo and reloading, still, the easiest reload with the least problems would be my choce for serious use. Having never used either the CM standard loading gate or the easyloader I will have to defer to others here, I would never use a Remington autoloader for serious use in any case but that's just me. |
