I just purchased a used Benelli M1S90 w/ 28" barrel. I would like to possibly add a pistol grip stock, mag extension and 18.5" rifle sighted barrel. Has anyone had any luck with the Speedfeed stocks? I like their feel on Remington 870's. Will these fit an M1 or will there be a sloppy fit and gaps (like when putting on an M2 stock)? What about the Benelli factory pistol grip? Is there a part number specifically for the M1? Who makes the best third-party mag extension? What would the benefit of having a Benelli factory extension be? Thanks for all of the help, fellas. |

I'm sure the Speedfeed stock is fine, but I really like the Benelli pistol grip stock. I like the rubber grip. I think it looks better, but that's just aesthetics. Try here for the parts: www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=4150zM1%20SUPER%2090%20FIELD&MC= Never used them myself though. |

I would do my best to spend a little time with a PG Benelli before deciding for sure on that configuration. Lots of guys in 3 Gun do not care for the PG and how it makes the gun handle, and while 3 Gun is a long way from realistic defense use, those guys do shoot a LOT of ammo thru their shotguns in a dynamic environment. From time to time I see factory Benelli PG stocks for sale in the EE here, usually at pretty reasonable prices. I am toying with the idea of selling mine but won't decide till next year sometime. I would probably go with the Nordic Components extension and clamp, as sold by several different retailers...excellent workmanship on the three I have seen. Given the prices on Benelli Barrels, I would also look into having that 28in barrel cut down and threaded for choke tubes. If it is feasible you should be able to save some bucks there. Sights can be added, especially if you are looking for the rifle type sights that were standard on the M1S90 Tactical and not a ghost ring setup. If the old 'standard' sights were more visible they would actually be my idea of the perfect defensive shotgun sight, but a large, bright white bead will do a fine job with shot loads as well. The 3 Gun guys like a ribbed barrel with a Hi Viz front sight and a 'flip up' rear leaf for slug use...similar to a Ruger 10-22 rear sight. Good Luck...the Benelli is a great shotgun. |
