I've got an 870 I use for deer hunting.  I have the fully rifled barrel with the cantalevered scope mount.   I've got a Bushnell 3x9 scope on it.

My problem is that the scope is sliding in the scope rings.  First time I had this problem I took the scope out and cleaned the scope and rings to make sure there was no factory oil left on them and put them back together.  That was fine for 2 years.

This year, it was fine when sighting in before deer season.  10 shots in a nice group.  I was happy.  Shot a deer on Sat.  It went down, but was trying to get up.  Second shot was a foot low and to the right.  Third shot even worse.  Luckily, the deer didn't get up.  Later, I looked at the scope and could see it moved 1/2 inch in the rings.  I'm damn lucky the first shot wasn't off.

I'm thinking that maybe the recoil of a shotgun is different than rifles?  Maybe I need a set of rings that are made for a shotgun, if such a thing exists?

Anyway, I'm looking for recommendations for good scope rings for a shotgun.  And, any recommendations on what to stay away from.  Certainly, I won't be getting Millet rings for it again.

Thanks.

I have inexpensive Weaver ring on my 1100 cantilever barrel. Never had any trouble.
