| Looking for a good entry level shotgun for trap, skeet, and hunting. Automatic or pump? Looking to stay in 20 gauge. Not looking to spend a whole lot. |
| Well, you have missed the best time of year to buy a hunting rifle or shotgun...high summer...still, if in your shoes I would look hard at a Remington 870 Express or, failing that, maybe a Mossberg 500 if searching for new. If used was OK, I would definitely include older 870 Wingmasters and the older Remington 1100s...the ones built on 12ga frames. Those 1100s are some of the best Remington ever produced in 20ga. but you don't see many anymore. If the shotgun you are looking at does not have screw in chokes, get a Modified barrel. Not the best at specialty stuff like trap or skeet, bot useable for most things. |
