I purchased a Model 11 receiver off of Ebay a few months ago that was complete less barrel and wood for $80 shipped. It was originally going to be a source for parts in fixing my maternal grandfather's old 1909 Remington Autoloading Shotgun, a pre-Model 11 version of this design. Once I saw that the receiver assy was in good shape I decided to build it back up. A few days after I got the receiver I saw a short Model 11 barrel on Ebay and got it for $40 shipped. The Riot Gun Project was born. A set of wood from Great American Gunstock Company was added. I spent a few hours in the garage yesterday with my paternal grandfathers old woodworking tools fitting the wood to the shotgun. ![]() I now have a lot of sanding to do before I finish the wood with BLO, but progress is being made. ![]() I spent another 4 hours in the garage sanding today so Pt 2 of the project is done. I still need to drill the hole in the buttstock for the tang screw and also cut about 1.5 inches off the end of the stock to prepare for the Limbsaver Slip-On recoil pad I will put on it. Once the pad comes in and I drill the hole it will be ready for function testing. I have a bunch of Wolf 00 buck and Brenneke slugs to try out in it. We are getting there. ![]() First coat of BLO.

If I ever find one of the Choate A5 extensions I may buy it but for now I will keep it in 4+1 configuration. I still am not sure what to do about refinishing the beast though. I do not have the setup for parkerization and while I do have a hot blue setup it may or may not be big enough for the receiver assy. It certainly is not big enough for the barrel. |
Was it a new Choate extension made for Remingtons? And was it threaded deep enough to hold the forend down? Thanks. |
It was one I had laying around from an 870...I just shorten the mag tube to get it to fit right to the forend....works great. |
