no.  Magnums are 3" and shorter.  Super Magnums are 3.5"

Dude, 3.5" hurts badly.  I wouldn't get so eager to want to get into it.

3.5 inch shells were developed for steel waterfowl loads. Because steel is so much lighter than lead you had to get the velocity faster. Regular steel 3.5" loads are not that bad out of an 870. I bought some of the newer high velocity shells and now I remember every shot.
Regarding slugs, if you shoot 3" instead of 2 3/4", you only get 50 more foot pounds but a lot more felt recoil.
Shot placement is key.
