Winchester Model 50? > Shotguns

I recently purchased a slightly used Winchester Model 50 shotgun from a co-worker and
I plan to use it for shooting trap at the local club this summer. It's a 12 guage with a 30" barrel. Has anyone on this forum used this model for trap?. The reason I ask this is that the Model 50 is short recoil operated, not gas operated like a Remington 1100.
Will the action function using light target loads?. TIA for any help.>Gary

I have a model 59, which is the same action as the 50, it just has a winlite fiberglass barrel. I never had problems with 1oz loads.

I just got done reading a 1955 Gun Digest about Winchester's new shotgun - i wish i could share the article with you. Here's a clip:

"Winchester's latest, the Model 50 Automatic, using the exclusive 'independent chamber' breech mechanism, a new design in autoloading shotguns"
At this writing, only a standard grade12-gauge is available, priced at $121. Better grades, ventilated rib barrels, and a 20 gauge version will be along later"
