| I just brought home my brand new M2 Tactical Pistol Grip w/ choke tube shotgun and I am pumped. Well maybe not pumped since it is a semi auto... My question is about magazine tube extensions. It comes with a short extension but is there any reason I can't add a couple more rounds legally with a longer extension. I know the Sunset did away with hicap mag restrictions but does this imported shotgun fall under some other sort of regs limiting it's magazine capacity? Thanks! |
Go to Shootersconnection and pick up a dmw 7 shot extension to increase your capacoty from 5+1 to 7+1. Here's my m2 with the dmw tube, barrel clamp, and oversize bolt. As I understand it there is no problem with increasing capacity, at least from what I gathered from threads on the topic in the benelli forums. Check your local laws though...![]() Happy shootin -MB |

I had the same question and contacted the ATF about the issue and was told. This a federal issue It is illegal to have a pistol grip and +4 extension configuration. You can either have a regular stock and +4 or a pistol grip and +2. This of course does not mean anything if the gun is a pre-ban weapon. An imported shotgun has to fall into a "Sporting" rule in order to be imported into the US and pistol grips and extensions are a no-no. UNLESS you add enough American made parts.... This rule does not apply to American made shotguns though - how stupid. This is why Benelli USA does not import anymore extensions into the US - and they are getting a premium for them now (even the +2's)Currently my M1 is set up with a +2 extension AND pistol grip. It's an Hk/Benelli import and I can ghost load an extra round on the lifter.. so all I am really giving up is 2 rounds (3+2+1 lifter + 1 chamber = 7) If there is an emergency I can just simply add the +4 and spring. Ultimate zombie killing tool. Pick up a nice 3 point sling as well. Check out Cactus Tactical - they ship really fast. |
| Thanks for the replies! CopM4, I was afraid there was some kind of rule like that. I knew that with the death of the AWB domestic shotguns were freed up from some of the configuration limitations but that imports might still have to be "sporting". I've had a Benelli +4 laying around but I guess I'll keep my M2 stock for now and weigh what I value more, higher capacity with a standard stock or the pistol grip stock. Realistically the only time the added capacity would make a difference for me is shooting 3 gun and I have a souped up 1100 for that. Some of you are thinking "Just slap the +4 on and stop being a wuss" but I prefer to stay legal. A couple extra rounds just aren't worth the hassle with the Law. |
