I have a mossy 500 "slugster" type (rifle sights / smooth bore) and it's presently 24". I want to get a smith to cut it down to 19", take the front sight off and resolder it back on to the barrel. How much would be a fair price to do that? Also, if possible, how much do they usually charge to install a choke on your barrel? I'll be checking on it tomorrow but if someone has some experience to share, I would really appreciate it. |

Thanks man, I just don't want to get ripped off. I don't have a smith that I normally work with yet. I've used different ones, but I usually feel like I'm not getting a right deal. Early in my shooting life, I accidentally somehow disassemble the firing pin on my ruger Mk1 pistol and was young and took it in, instead of trying to figure it out myself. They guy charged me $ 40 to put it back together and I had all the parts. Seemed high to me. Of course this is the same guy you charges $ 7 for an en bloc clip because "they're becoming hard to find".  I don't go to him anymore.
