I am looking at purchasing a used Remington 870 at a local gunshop.  I really want a police model, instead of the Express HD and I ran onto one that I am not sure is a police or an express model.
Features:
Short ribbed police style wood foreend.
18" plain barrel w/ bead sight
parkerized finish
factory magazine extension
870 Magnum engraved on the receiver
shiny bolt and loading tab like on old wingmasters
old style orange recoil pad, not solid black rubber like new 870s

ETA:  Seeing that it is an older police model, in aprrox.85% cond. what would it be worth?

It's almost certainly an older Police gun.

Years ago Remington didn't stamp POLICE on the police guns since back then they were just Wingmasters with a dull finish and un-checkered, oil finished stocks and the short police fore end.
They even had the chrome plated bolt.

I've seen these older police guns stamped as Wingmasters and simply with the Magnum stamp.

It was only in the last 15 years or so that Remington began stamping them with the Police mark.

that is most certainly what it is then.  The bolt is chrome.  I thought it looked like an older police gun, but I wasn't sure since it wasn't marked police on the side of the gun.  I'm going to go pick it up tommorrow.
