Where in the world would I find a lefty 870?  Does anyone know someone who stocks them or is this a special order / run item?

You see them around, have to go to more of the big box store, Gander Mountain, Cabelas.  Something like that.  Most shops could order one for you though.

Just asking, but why the lefty, I am a lefty and If not for getting a really good deal on a lefty M2 Benelli, I would stick with right hand guns.  Everything is different, barrels, some accessories don't work, etc.

I actually like shooting left with a regular right hand gun.  Rifles & Shotguns you can load with the right while you keep the trigger hand on the gun.

I am left handed and have an 870 but can't for the life of me figure out WHY someone would want the ejection port on the left side.  As a lefty shooting a right handed 870 you can keep your trigger finger NEAR the trigger while loading one at a time with your off hand.  Loading the mag tube makes no difference beccause it is done from the bottom and the safety is taken off with your shooting hand thumb.

What advantage would you have with a lefty 870???

You can install a left-hand safety on a right-hand 870 in a few minutes.

So based on that logic, every right handed person would want a lefty gun....

What's really happened is that you have adapted to using a righty gun.

I'll spend money on almost anything that gives me a speed advantage (without compromising reliability) for competition...a left handed gun isn't one of those things.  Reloading the shotgun is made much easier by having the ejection port right there for you to through your first shell when you've shot empty into.

The USPSA journal Front Sight, published an article in the past year specifically demonstrating why left handed shotguns are faster for right handed people to operate.

The only potential "advantage" for a left handed shooter using a left handed gun is the shells don't go past your face...big deal, if you notice the shells going past your face with a right handed gun, you're not focussing enough on the sights, the targets, and all the other tasks involved with shooting.
