Hey all, I'm considering a Wilson/ST Border Patrol model 870. I've heard rumors though that Wilson had gone "Cheap" and makes them on Express actions. Is this true? Are they made on the Express or the Police actions? Thanks Rich |

Wilson uses the Express gun as the base. For less money, you can get the best there is, a genuine Remington factory Police gun. Here's what Remington offers: www.remingtonle.com/ Pick out the gun you want, and contact Kevin Wells at: Kevin Wells Discreet Ordnance [email protected] Kevin sells Remington guns as a sort of hobby/public service. He has prices that can't be beat, and service is fast and good. For significantly less than a Wilson Express you can get the best Police gun Remington offers. |

I agree 100% with DFW...the Police model is the real deal...and if you want the extras, you can get the 870P MAX which is built on a Police Model and is still cheaper than the Wilson. www.remingtonle.com/shotguns/870pmax.htm |

Yep, built on express actions Now, if you go handle one, it's a really nice shotgun, the action is amazing, it's all smoothed out and it's got that fancy coating But it's built on a express action. ![]() for that kind of money, they should have built it on the police or wingmaster receiver. I have an original Scattergun Technologies (pre-Wilson) 870 that's built on a wingmaster receiver and it's just one amazing little shotgun. |

now wait a minute first you wanted a pump, now you want a semi-auto which is it? Completely different roles and guns. the 870 is a hell of a gun in any of it's guises, you cannot go wrong. the 1100/1187 can be put out of it's element. A semi-auto has tradeoffs with a pump that you should be aware of and want to make that choice. A pump is a revolver, always works, little more talent to work well and reliability is utmost. a semi-auto is a semi-auto pistol, faster, easier, but occasionally something bad happens and it doesn't work. it's not exact, but ti's a fair enough comparison If i was looking for a semi-auto for 3gun/HD/2 legged critters, I'd look at the benelli before the 1100/1187 |

Well, for 3gun I (we) shoot a Benelli M2 it's awesome, ti's fast, it handles well, etc For home defense, there a couple 870 pumps scattered about the house. (I love the "make my day law" pumps always work, you just keep pumping. I won't need to make 9 shots in 3 seconds in a HD equation (I better not) Easier to keep in cruiser ready and easier to explain to others how to use vs a semi-auto. but that's just me, others have made other good decisions. or, get both. |
