Hello shotgun buffs. I recently located a SPAS-12 for $1200, and talked the gentlemen down to $1000. This particular shotgun  has the folding stock with the hook, the new safety, and an extra buffer. Finish is about 95%(would be better if not for the slide rubbing the finish off the head shield). My question is this: Is it worth $1000, or should I pass on it?

Many thanks for any replies!

If you like it, buy it. But IMHO the SPAS 12 are heavy and bulky and really offer no advantage to a Remy 870 or Mossy. If an autoloader is more to your liking, get a Benelli. As far as price goes that seems what the going market is getting.

Well, i'm looking at it as more of an investment than a shotgun. I'm just curious as to whether or not $1000 is to high or too low, and if the value of them will go up or down.

P.S. I already have a Remy 870. Thanks for the speedy advice!

These are not likely to increase in value dramatically.  $1000 could be spend on another gun more wisely for invesntment.

IMHO, there are better choices on the market for investment.  I am not one to buy a firearm of any kind for investment sake. A lot of folks like to collect and trade, and that is perfectly fine. But I like to keep only the guns I use alot, or fit a specific role or function. However, if you like the SPAS go for it. Just keep in mind that it is kinda of a novelty.

As stated above, heavy. When I fired mine from the hip and it was like the bolt was in slow motion.
