There was a used, New England Firearms Pardner SB1 12 gauge shotgun sitting on the rack, and I happened to have an Advanced Technology AR-style collapsible stock set for an NEF single-shot laying around. Add those two components together with a machine shop, an SOT, and my twisted mind, and you get this:

olegvolk.net/gallery/d/17056-2/SBS5113.jpg

A 10.25" barreled short-barreled shotgun, registered on a Form 2.

It serves no logical purpose, whatsoever, other than the "I could legally do it" purpose. I took it to the range yesterday, and ran about 15 rounds through it. Most were Remington Reduced Recoil slugs and 00 Buck, along with some S&B 00 Buck. It will put a beating on you. Being the sick individual that I am, I just had to do it. I put one, and only one, 3" Magnum slug down range. WOW! What recoil, and what a fireball! I now have a sore shoulder, and a small bruise.

Was it worth it? Why not? Does it make sense? Not really! Would I ever find a use for it, such as HD, skeet, or hunting? No way! Would anyone really want to pay a $200 transfer tax to buy one? I highly doubt it! But, the law says I can do it, I had the stuff laying around, and it was just begging to be done. Kind of like sailing westward, looking for a passaage to the Orient.

I'm already considering how I'm going to mount a vertical foregrip, a bipod, a flashlight, and/or a bayonet on to it.

I can verify that the 3" slugs hurt . it is very fun to shoot though.

sustanon,

The stock set came from Advanced Technology.  They retail for about $70 or so.

The barrel is easy - a hacksaw works wonders.  Just be absolutely certain you measure properly.

If you want, I can cut your barrel, and get you a stock set, for a fairly decent price.  Drop me an IM if you're interested.

The gun is 100% reliable and the recoil is around HALF that of a Benelli.

Planned modifications:

Enlarged charging handle
Mesa Tactical shell holder (8 shot)
Scattergun Technologies Tritium front sight
Scattergun Technologies Trak-lock rear sight
Install a Rem Choke - Modified
REFINISH

I've been thinking about having Sage modify my 11-87...  Would you recommend it?  Can you post pics of the conversion?
Link Posted: 1/3/2007 8:58:12 AM EDT
[#8]
Yes, I would recommend it!

The problem....................I don't think Sage is doing conversions for civilian guns anymore. They state on their website that you must furnish a "letter of intended use." If I were you I'd give them a call and ask about it.

One footnote, at the time my conversion was done (over twelve years ago) the owner, John Klein, informed me that he would do the conversion on either a 11-87 or an 1100 but he liked the design of the 1100 better.

Remington 870 Express Magnum ( I even got the $30 rebate!)
Speedfeed IV stock set.
Factory 14" barrel with Vang Comp System (no ports).
Replaced ILS safety button with standard Remington safety.
Installed Police model maagzine cap with sling swivel stud.

Future additions will likely include a Surefire foreend and Wilderness sling.

OK, it's not mine and the photo is an action shot, but I think it's pretty cool. It's an eight inch Tromix Saiga owned by NoAim. A few of us got together over Christmas and did some shooting. Here another friend is shooting 3" slugs out of it.

Frame from video.

I really want to build my 870 wingmaster(20 in rifle sight barrel/ full mag tube) into a SBS 14 inch shotgun w/ 1 rd ext mag, Sure Fire and Copstock....

If I had like $1000 laying around, I would probably do it.

Im sure it would be, Right now it is being used as a prototype breeching gun for Force Recon, so it does not apply, but I have a 12in barrel extention (tacked) and stock for it when Im "Traveling" or not on orders

Just got this one yesterday.  Factory Remington 10" AOW.  I switched the grip out for the Hogue Tamer which I had sitting around and I had to cut a Surefire rail in half to get it to fit.  Planning on a Mesa Tactical saddle rail & 6 shell holder and some sort of red dot also.  Not sure what I'm going to do for a light yet, I'll figure something out.

Here is my latest project.

Remington 870 Express.
ArmsTech stock adapter kit.
The barrel is 12".
Sent reciever and barrel to Mike at Tornado Technologies. He cut the barrel, threaded it for RemChoke tubes and installed a HiVis Compsight. He also did the required SBS engraving for me. He did a really good job and I would recomend him to anyone needing this type work. I think I will get a better recoil pad. The one I have is pretty hard. I will add a range report when I get a chance.

Not sure, I do know that some states are different when it comes to shotgun laws.  I will have to look into that.  I only use this gun in a breaching mode when Im traveling on orders when classifications dont matter.  But before it comes out of the armory it has a 12 perm barrel extention tacked on to make it legal, I also add a stock.

this is not a tromix gun.  this is a E-Tac custom gun.  e-tac.us

After a significant wait getting the Form 1 back and the barrel mod done, I finally have myself a Benelli M4 entry shotgun with 14" barrel. The thing is just awesome to handle and shoot!

It's "made" by Dlask Arms in British Columbia, Canada.  Starts off as an 870 Express Synthetic.  They shorten the magazine tube, and add one of their newly manufactured short barrels (plus a few other additional changes)...
