My police trade-in 870 which I made an SBS - I found a used Vang Comp barrel on GB prior to 2020 and put a new sight base and Trijicon front sight on it, and then added the Aridus rear sight/optic mount. The Holosun 503G on there doesn't quite fit right due to the size of the objective lens but it works just fine. It's a handy shotgun and the Vang Comp work absolutely tames some of the blast:

  Police trade-in Rem 870. Was 14" SBS, finally found a cheap enough spare barrel (<$50), as I did not want to alter/damage the factory barrel, so now it's 12.5", just barely long enough to clear the magazine tube. Knoxx adjustable buttstock, which I want to modify to allow at least one more notch shorter, Crimson Trace LS-870 laser, TacStar Industries Side Saddle shell holder. I may swap out the slide for one like pictured in one of the above posts that will mount a light. With the laser on one side and the Side Saddle on the other, I had to make up custom length screws to attach both. I may also drill comp holes in the top of the barrel at the muzzle. |

Nice! @Jodan1776, if you end up changing out the forearm let me know. I'll buy that one off you if you don't want it (I love that style). Here's my SBS project. I added a rear sight last year and it made a world of difference. I think I'll also add a small weaver/pic rail in front of the rear sight for an optic, and I'm working on attaching a light to the existing forearm. Once that stuff is done I'll do a final review. Remington 1100 with Tru Glo Magnum Gobble Dot sights on a chopped vent-rib barrel. The barrel is not the original. I also bought a stock and had Ed Vanden Berg chop it to 12.5" and fit a recoil pad. Haven't started gas tuning it, but I may not, as it cycles full-powered slugs and buck fine after the chop. Form 1 took 305 days while the ATF website quoted 40 days at the time, fuckers. I'm debating tuning it to run low-recoil slugs, which it won't currently.

In trump slup and caliber consolidation, i Played around a little more. This so far is the best setup I've found if you want an adjustable stock. I ditched the folding mech for a fixed, for weight and having it folding just was int ergonomic with the hinge or controlling it folded. Hacked at a larue grip for a bit to get it about as perfect as i can get it. No whacking hand off of metal/ etc. Attached File |

Well, I can't leave well enough alone, so after receiving the trigger pin retention springs I needed to keep the trigger pins from walking, I went from this: Attached File To this: Attached File It only takes about an hour to totally change the configuration. The Mesa Tactical stuff is really excellent, but it weighs the gun down, and in this configuration, I can use the Esstac cards, along with the XS Big dot, and for HD purposes, it's just better. The cool thing is that the weapon light can be used to charge the Big Dot, just by sliding the forend back a few inches, and after a couple seconds, it glows in the dark like you wouldn't believe. Of course, it also has tritium, so it will work regardless, and it's still highly visible in daylight. I might be convinced that I need another shotgun to install the rest of my cool stuff on. I mean, you can't have too many shotguns, can you? |

I have several short barrel shotguns, this one has always been my favorite. I’ve had it for 25 years or so as an original 20 inch LE Wingmaster. I think I paid around $125.00. I form 1’d it a long time ago but always hesitated to chop the original barrel. Found a 1980’s Wingmaster barrel for next to nothing and cut it to the end cap, 12.something inches.
