| Are there any ATF guidelines to creating your own AOW from scratch? |
You would file a Form 1 just like you would for an SBR or SBS. Just remember a few things. The shotgun you are using to make the AOW can never have had a buttstock on it (like a Mossberg Cruiser). Also, know that AOW's TRANSFER for a $5 tax, but for you as an individual to MAKE one it will cost $200 in taxes. If you ever decide to sell it, it would then transfer for $5. C2 manufactures can make either an SBS or an AOW and they register them without tax (other than their yearly license fee), so if you are set on an AOW, get one that is already made and can transfer for $5. |
