Will the new or newer barrels fit in older 870 receivers?

Yes. But the new barrels are 2 3/4" and 3" chamber. If your gun is 2 3/4" receiver only use 2 3/4" shells. MIKE.

You can get your receiver converted to 3 inch by getting the ejector replaced. you will need to refinish the gun too, but then you can shoot up to 3 inch.
