I was wanting to get a scope for my Mossberg 500 and use it as a sluggun i got the weaver mounts for it. Now just looking at scopes how much eye relief should I look for?

I use a Nikon Monarch UCC 4X40 scope on my Remington 870 Super Slug shotgun. It has a 3.5" eye relief, and thankfully, it has never made contact with my face! Otherwise it would look like this:

I don't know how much you want to spend, but for a more expensive scope I'd recommend a Nikon. For less money, I'd recommend the Simmons Pro Diamond.

I used a regular old rifle scope on my mossberg...  shot 3" mags with it no problems...  just make sure you got it as far forward as you can and not start to get fuzzy around the outside of the picture and I think you'll be fine.

but thats just my $.02

I own a Mossberg 695 bolt-action slug gun.  What scope would your recommend?

Also, besides the cheap plastic weaver mount, how should I go about mounting a scope to it?

I have one of these on my H&R slug gun and shoot 3" slugs. I can't complain about it. I have shot about 100 rds thru it and it has held it's zero.
