Hey Guys, My dad tossed me his 500C and said "work your magic on it." Well, I have been staring at this thing for hrs and havent gotten any closter to stripping it down. Anyone know how to do this or where to find instructions? thanx |

M500s are actually pretty easy to strip once you know the secret. 1. Remove the barrel. Pretty obvious. 2. Drift out the big pin in the side of the receiver. Now you can pull the trigger group down and out. 3. Two shell stops thingies will prolly fall out the sides of the receiver about now. It'll help a little if you remember which is left and which is right, but it's not a big deal, you can figger 'em out later. 4. Rack the slide back until the bolt carrier block falls out the bottom of the receiver--it'll come out when it hits cuts in the rails. You should then be able to take the bolt out the front, and remove the slide as well. 5. The shell lifter then comes out just by sqeezing its arms in until they pop out of the receiver, then remove out the bottom. 6. Reassemble in reverse order! At least I THINK that's how it goes. I had one apart two weeks ago after not working on them for over 10 years--if you're comfortable fiddling with guns, you'll find your way around. To slick up the action, polish where the bolt/carrier rack the hammer, and the hammer. It'll feel like a new gun. If the thing is giving feed problems, chances are it's in the shell stops. These are springs and can be finger-bent to more or less "action" depending on what's required--watch them and you'll see what's going on. I got one of my M500s for a giveaway price because it wouldn't feed--this was its problem, the fix was easy and FREE and it works like a champ now! Hope this helps! |
