I have a 12 ga. Remington 870 Express. It has a 28" barrel and a mod. choke tube. I was shooting trap today and was having a hard time hitting anything. Any recommendations on a choke tube to install that would be more effective for trap or is the one I have what I should use?
Thanks

For standard 16 yard trap the modified tube is good. MIKE.

I agree with Mike - a modified choke with that 28" barrel oughta do just fine - in fact, I've busted quite a few with that very same set-up... Foot position, and knowing where to hold off of the house for each station is very important... Also, remember to keep your cheek down on the stock, and continue your swing even after you've shot - follow through is important to consistancy...

Thanks for the info. I guess I just need to practice a little more.

If you want to get really technical, most trap shooters use an improved modified to shoot at the 16 yd . line.........but like the others I've shot lots of birds with a modified.

Try skeet also if you can. I feel your pain shooting at (but not hitting) those dammned trap targets. Gee they LOOK easy to hit

Mod will work but improved mod better. when you shoot at the clay  put your barrel above the clay not on it the bird. it is rising. aim at the corner of the top of the trap house when you see the bird rise  shoot it quick. that will help U use 7 1/2 shot too.
