JUST picked up a brand new 870 7shot with 18" barrel.  I put a speedfeed III stock on it and a side saddle for starters.  Well I load up the speedfeed stock with 4 shells and then the side saddle with 6 and proceed to load up the 7shot tube magazine... but I can't get the first shell all the way in.. it stops about 3/4 the way in.  Anyone have any remedies?  Does it need broken in?  I don't think the saddle or stock would do anything with the tube magazine but I could be wrong. HELP!

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is there's an obstruction in the mag tube. Maybe a burr the tooling didn't take off all the way. Take it a part and look down there. Of course I shouldn't need to remind you to make sure it's unloaded first. The magazine should NOT need breaking in to that extent if at all.

Have you taken the magazine spring/follower out and inspected the tube, spring, etc?  Defective parts, maybe?  Also make sure the carrier is moving up completely out of the way. If not, the rim of the shell may be dragging on it.  I can't think of anything else.  The 870 is usually pretty foolproof.

I fixed it after some tinkering.. theres 2 levers that u have to push in when u put the forearm "legs" and bolt into the gun and one of em was out of place.. I took the bolt and all out and reinserted it and it solved the problem.  Anyway thanks for the help.
