But, but the Osight is junk! (Page 2 of 3)

Idea: Put Osight on QD Picatinny Mount. Sight in on firearm and fire a group. Weld/Duct Tape Picatinny Rail to Sledgehammer. Mount Osight. Start smacking stuff with the opposite end. Remount to firearm and fire another group to see if anything shifted Inspect for damage. Is that a valid test? ![]() I know Vortex would warranty it, not sure if Osight would. Wonder what optics would survive that? I'm too broke to test multiple lol From an older thread Zero it on a QD mount and secure it to a board that is bolted to a reciprocating saw. Simulate 10k rounds and test for zero shift. If it passes, re-secure it, drop.the board from shoulder height, another 10k rounds, retest. |

That was a big problem for me after I discovered it was absent. But after a several months it hasn't been a issue. I did discover my dot turned down once. I had been raking up the yard and picking up debris. I carry AIWB. The buttons are basically flush with the body. I would not get the S model again. I run my dots high. So I have to recharge about every 15 days or so. The charge gauge says I'm down to half or a little lower. They charge up in 15 mins. So far I have purchased four. Two S models. No issues other than above. Both optics over 1k on 43X guns. One SE, so far 60 slugs on a 1014. No issues. One K, unfired for the moment. I also bought one of the their RMR to RMSc plates. It's steel but quality. It came with screws and another adjustment tool. Both the K and SE were purchased for shotguns. I'll get some more rds on them later this week. I run lite weight optics on shotguns. I've had a T1 strip out of a 870 before. I won't buy anymore until they add lockout. But the quality is on par with all the top optics companies. They are tough and the glass is the clearest glass I have ever seen on any pistol RDS. |

I had assumed, they would have added it on the SE but I was wrong. |

Go to Reddit and look at the issues Holosun is having across the board. It’s like a lot of gun manufacturers are having QC issues. The price point made it very attractive. I got to look at an S model and a couple others in a local shop. The glass was clear and dot crisp. I took the leap and ordered an SE and have no regrets. It’s built like a tank. I have no doubt it will take a beating and the lockout isn’t a big issue to me. It’s why I have irons on my handguns. Murphy taught me to never rely on anything electronic. I find it crazy when people run optics and no backup sights. Even an etched reticle is crazy to run without a backup sighting system. |

Personally I think serious use stuff get's something duty rated. For range toys, budget optics have their place. If I test them out on a 12 gauge shockwave, I definitely say they punch above their weight and I'm definitely mentioning that. So far Holosun, Vortex Defender CCW and this Osight RMSC have passed my tests. Regarding the Haven: I was going to get the Holosun 507 Comp which I know damn well works. But part of me is like "Let try a Phillipines red dot and support a U.S. Company and not China!". Which I regretted Also I was saying that Trijicon owns Ameriglo. I figured Trijicon released the red dot under Ameriglo for a budget RMR brand to compete with Holosun's prices instead of releasing a RMR "lite". Obviously discontinued for a reason though. 1st had Emitter Issues, 2nd Unit eats batteries. A few times the controls would glitch and lock out. Not sure if it didn't like 12 gauge recoil or not. I have a theory that 12 gauge recoil with just a birdshead grip is harsher on an Optic than one with a stock. Care to list brands that aren't crap, give us some recommendations? This Osight was for an Advantage Arms 22lr Slide. What is better for plinker at this price? If it's a carry gun I'd definitely get an RMR or something duty rated. |

I’ve done this various times in several threads in this section over the last 6ish months. And let’s be real - you and 99% of others who post here already know who’s making quality stuff and who isn’t. But most would rather justify why they buy junk and grasp out rare failures of actual quality optics as to why their known junk is “just as good”. Plinker optic? Defender CCW. I mean you can find them for like $230-$240 dollars. It’s an actual quality optic made by a company that has probably the most solid reputation in the optics game when it comes to customer service and warranty. |

Ah yeah, I have 2x of the CCWs, they are good optics. Will probably get their enclosed optic next. I have been impressed with the quality on their newer products. Even the Crossfire HD Scout Scope I picked up is a huge improvement over the old line. Vortex CS has never done me wrong. |

I bought one of the first model. They had a sale to promote them, and it was pretty cheap. I thought the induction-recharge idea was novel and I was intrigued. I kinda hope it catches on. I would take a chance on another of their products. I also have one of their flashlights. I'm not dumb enough to hold it in my mouth and touch it to a car battery, so I'm not really concerned... I am not going to war, and I have many guns that I only shoot for fun. I put it on a budget pistol I use for 3-gun. I've put a lot of rounds through the gun and it has been used for a lot of shooting practice and it still works. I did an initial review and I was planning a follow-up, but I can't find my old thread. Its been more than 6 months since I charged it fully, and it's at about 25% charge now. The cover is still full. Attached File |
The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see.

Also the acro is a giant turd and ive returned two for rma for having silicone smeared inside the lenses blocking the fov. Trijicon is fine. They were slow to come up with the HD though. |

The X was a bit better, but still had some distortion (to be fair my 509T has more) and all of the new optics have aspherical lenses that pretty much eliminate the distortion. They've come a long way in a short period of time. |

They've come a long way in a short period of time. I put in my (now lost) review that there is some distortion. It's a band at the top where the lens meets the housing. It doesn't affect shooting (mostly because the window is so big), but it's noticeable and a little annoying. I tried to take a pic, but I can't get the effect to really show on camera. |

I was actually taking you serious until you recommended the Vortex which also Chinese garbage. Have some principles, you can't call out trash Chinese optics and then point to another random trash China product out of the same factory and decide it is great. Looks like you are huffing copium too with low budget optics like the rest. |

It's absolutely ridiculous to be happy because BS has put a few rounds through your beloved brand. He had way more rounds through the Cyelee because he stopped testing it. Olight doesn't make an optic comparable to the SRO, the compDOT, or the Defender XL and 507COMP which are the two primary handgun optics that Ben Stoeger is using now. |

You mean assembled in the Philippines right? It's not my brand. It's a cheap Chinese RDS that is good enough for CCW. Just like the Vortex and Holosun at a much cheaper price point. Yeah we know. That's why he is using a C model. It's like a RMR but much bigger window. |
| I had 15k on my Osight X, still running. my Trijicon SRO broke at 5k, Leuopold DPP broke at 300 rounds and my Holosun 507 Comp still going strong at 20k. Not sure what y'all pps complaining about. If you don't own it, never tried it, stfu. Shit breaks all the time, even your TOP tier brand like Aimpoint, Trijicon and what not. Even my friend's Vortex. Nothing is unbreakable. Osight is holding hella a lot better than some of the top tier brands I seen. |

Are we supposed to care? Should I show you a picture of a hammer I broke? Lmao at pretending like quality optics break at the same rate as the junk out there does because people on the internet post pics and vids of theirs broke . The extent some of you will go to to convince yourself your garbage $150 optic is “jUsT as gOoD” is hilarious. Mental gymnastics on a whole other level. |
