I had the lgs order me one of these, but it was actually supposed to be the .45 model. What showed up was the 9mm version. After a week of sitting at the shop on the shelf, I decided WTH, why not. Took it out for a quick range trip. Due to time constraints and the freaking wind, I wasn't able to spend much time out with it, but did run 5 mags through it. WOW, what a sweet shooter! | Mine runs like a spotted ape. Very nice pistol, fit and finish are excellent. SA mags work, as well as Wilson. Very soft shooter. This is very close to the issued 1911 I qualified with. Except the ejection port is lower and the hammer is different. And it is 9mm instead of 45 ACP. Same crappy sights. But they work. Good buy. |
| I have never shot a 1911 in 9mm, but I'm starting to get curious about it. 45ACP isn't as much fun to shoot as it used to be, now that my joints are starting to protest. Might have to snag one of those nickel plated Tanker Commanders when they are more plentiful. |

I had long-resisted 9mm 1911s, but that blem sale lured me in. It's a smooth shooter and the tiny sights are pretty well-regulated. Attached File |
| Graham Bates did a YT video on the Tank Commander model in 9 mm and I’ve seen videos on the full size 1911 A1 in 9 mm and both have a ramped barrel. I don’t know the specifics on the ramp but SDS Imports in Knoxville, Tn is the importer and should be able to give the specifics on the ramped barrel. There is a forum member that works for SDS and post in the Tisas section. |
