The specks i have  say 12lbs trigger pull in DA, and 4-5 in SA......is 12lbs really correct.  A call to FN got me know where.  Apparently the ONE guy who knows anything technical is out of the building until Wed.

That what it says on the website.  In reality, it's not that bad.  More important than the overall weight of the trigger pull is the smoothness and the break.  The FNP-45 is just fine in those regards.

Have you never owned a traditional DA/SA handgun before?

I had a baretta 92fs about 10yrs ago, I cant remember what the trigger pull felt like on it.  It just seems to me that 12lbs is a little steep.  Maybe the local range will let me shoot before I buy.

A measured 12 pound double action trigger is pretty normal.

I have found it to be very smooth in double action.  I have no complaints.

Remember, this is a service grade handgun, not a race gun custom made for competition.

It may be 12lbs but it feels just as nice as my well worn/smoothed out P226. Trigger reset is nicer on the FNP. Maybe my SIG is just getting old and needs an overhual.

Are there trigger spring kits available to "better" the trigger pull ala` Glock & others?

No.

So far there is little to no aftermarket activity for the FNP series handguns.

As sales increase I think this will change.

That said the stock triggers on my FNP-40 and FNP-45 are both very smooth with precise, crisp let off,  in either DA or SA.

My FNP-45 has a very smooth trigger, the DA pull doesn't really feel like 12lbs.  The only thing I don't like is that it has a fair amount of take up.

Well, I took the plunge & bought a .45 FN yesterday. The SA trigger is actually pretty decent, IMO. I'll try to measure it later.

I did get the "Shooters Pack" model so as to not have to chase down a holster & mag pouch later on.
