Nice, How's it shoot?

I just asked a question in the general handgun discussion section about a review of these. Can you give me a little prespective of your own?

Thanks

I really like these pistols, I've been a long time fan of FN Firearms.  My first firearm was a Belgian FN FAL, which I still own.  I liked my FNP9 USG so much, that I bought the FNP45 right after Osama got elected.  They both shoot really good, never any problems of any sort.  I like the way they both fit in my hands, recoil is very reasonable.  Easy to take apart and clean.  I like the 16 round magazines for the 9MM, and the 14/15 round magazines for the 45.  They both seem to be really good at hitting what you are aiming at.  I really like both of them and would definitely recommend them.  I would say they are both right up there with my HK USP9 SD and my Glocks.  The price is pretty good too.

Hey thanks for the reply Mike! And the new pic, which only makes me want one more.

Since you compared it to the HK USP, how does it sit in your hand? I had a USPc in .40s&w and I know how high the bore axis was with it and was wanting to know if the FN sat about the same? It looks like it would sit a little lower in the hand but I can't tell for sure from the pics. I handled a FNP9 (not usg) tonight and it seemed like it did sit a bit lower, but since you have both, hopefully you'll be able to tell me.

Also what is the difference between the FNP and the FNP-USG? I read on another site that the slide was slimmer, then there are the front serrations and the ability to carry cocked and locked with the safety. Any other differences that you know of?

Okay last question...where did you buy yours and how much are the new models?

Thanks!

Hi ManDown, yes - the FNP9 does sit lower in the hand - than my HK USP9.
The FNP9 feels really good in your hand, it is very ergonomic.
The USG model has the added front slide serrations, added safety position and of course it's in FDE.  I really do like the color.
Also, I paid $500.00 at my local gun store - several months ago.
You will love it, if you can find one.
It comes with 3 - 16 round mags.  I also bought a few more extra's.
I also got the free shooter's pack from FN. (Holster, double mag pouch and training barrel).
They now have the FDE tac lights - to go with it.

Hey Mike, yeah I read your reply the other day, Thanks! I looked at one of the FNP9mm out at Bass Pro Shops the other day and I liked the way it felt. It was the older version though, not the USG one. As far as I know there aren't any dealers around my area that carry FN's at least the new ones anyway. I am going to keep looking to see if I can find someone who does have them in so I can give them the once over.

Besides the front slide serrations and the safety, is there really any difference between them? I read somewhere that the slides were a little slimmer, but then I read a post somewhere else that said that only pertained to the .45's.

Also how is the trigger in DA and SA? How heavy do you think they are? Or can you measure them to see how heavy they are?

Thanks I appreciate your help!
