When shooting this pistol can one ride the thumb safety with your thumb like a 1911 or will it decock the weapon during recoil?

Good question, I haven't shot mine yet.  If there's no answer by Wed, I'll let ya know.

Down is decock, up is safe, and yes you can put the gun on safe if you ride it too hard on the FNP-45 T

It's quite a long stroke and feels like about 8lbs to decock.  It's a non issue.

I'm having trouble visualizing how having your thumb on top of the safety will move it up into "safe".

Perhaps I may be incorrectly describing it, but unless I and the other various people I've seen shoot guns are holding them wrong, My thumb is under the safety on the FNP-45. If you ride the safety hard with a slightly loose grip and with enough recoil you can bump the safety up to "SAFE" while firing.

Okay, I re-read and see what the OP was asking about covering the safety lever with ones thumb, as you could with a 1911. Don't see how that would even remotely be comfortable ona  FNP-45..

Is the thumb safety made to operate the pistol in such a manor or is it to small to rest the thumb on the safety? Thanks guys for the responses.

I rest my thumb on the safety.  It's no smaller than the ledge on a slim extended 1911 safety.  Like others have said the down stroke to decock the weapon is long, your upper thumb would likely hit your lower thumb before that.
