I looking at getting a 45. I was considering the Springfield XDm in .45 ACP and then saw the FNP Tactical and it has piqued my interest. It is a 13 round mag capacity right? It's a DA right? What are the pros and cons owners have found with the gun?

15 round magazine...not a 13...
it can be DA...it can be SA...it can be carried cocked and locked like a Hi Power...
I have heard that some have had issues with Winchester White Box ammo being out of spec and the FN magazines being too tight for that round alone...

I don't have a ton of rounds through mine but I like it so far...

15 rounds
DA/SA with decocker, can be carried cocked and locked.
The trigger is not great, and one smith I've had look at it could not figure out how to disassemble it to work on it.

ETA: Bill reminds me, yes the OAL of some ammo causes issues sometimes. Mine did not like my handloads until I took OAL down.

I love mine, perfect .45acp suppressor host with the threaded barrel and raised night sights :) not to mention having 15 rounds of .45acp is badass and it's very reliable. I have only heard to stay away from WWB. I shoot Monarch .45acp ammo for practice and haven't had any issues. It is a large gun though, not good for conceal carry haha. But it's great for home defense, mine sits on my nightstand. Not many holsters available for it though. I did get a Bladetech belt holster and a Sarfariland drop leg holster.

The FN is THE best gun deal going on in the handgun world for the last couple of years.

I have the FN tactical. I have taken it to the range about 4 times. The first time the cases were slamming into my face and actually scratched both lens on my polycarbonate glasses. Its getting better but not sure its resolved. I also bought an XDm about a month ago. I had to get black as there were none locally or at our distributors that had Stainless slides and Night Sights. I noticed the first day the finish was coming off the slide. I sent it back two weeks ago and expect it back anyday.

I've had the Tactical since the beginning of January. Put close to 600 rounds through it so far without any issues. Have been hit in the face a few times with brass but not lately. It's accurate, balances well and fits better in my hand than any other full size double stack 45's. It's a great gun for the money, good enough that I just bought a plain FNP-45 to use as my carry gun. Nothing like having my truck gun and carry gun use the same magazines and fit me identically.

FNP-45 Tactical can use two style FNH mags, 15 rd (with "bumper/extension") or the flush 14 rd mags.

I love my FNP-45 FDE Tactical with FDE Osprey .45 suppressor, a great combo!

I bought an FNP45 USG and have put about 200 rounds through it, including WWB, with no issues.  I like it so much I sold my XD45.

I bought mine mainly as a car/travel gun. I picked up the XD about a month afterwards. I just got it back today after shooting it once. The finish was coming off and they refinished it. I think the FN has much less felt recoil. The DA trigger pull on the FN is a little long but can be gotten used to quickly or carried cocked and locked. The XD was a little rough on my trigger finger with that trigger insert. Its the first 45 I own that was slightly uncomfortable to shoot. WIll know a little more after I shoot it again tormorrow. They are both reliable and accurate guns.

Thanks for the replys, this helps a little. I'll be doing my homework a little more, but they both sound like good guns overall.
