I brought this thread over from 1911 forum in case some of you don't visit there...
I can get one ordered @ $350 and was wondering how worthwhile the purchase might be. I have heard the Chihuaha/Chipotle/Chupacabra/WTF-ever, which is similarly priced is very sketchy in terms of fit, finish, and reliability and is thus off the table. If the GSG is of similar quality, I'd rule that out as well. To head off the "buy an 'X-Brand" conversion unit" suggestions, I do not have a 5" that I would want to swap tops on at the moment, and would want a dedicated platform anyway, either of which would require purchase of a 1911 frame, costing 2-3 times the price of this project and dropping me on the doorstep of a Colt Ace. For those who suggest any non-1911 platform as a better substitute, I am considering this purchase specifically because it is a 1911 platform. So has anybody seen, bought, or shot one of these models? Impressions? |
