| I just bought a Colt Frontier Scout '62 for my dad who had one for purt near 40 years till it got stolen. He always wished he could get it back or find another. He missed it so much he even said he'd be willing to buy it back from the thief if he could. Well I finally found him a nice one. I was laying in bed this morning thinking about how excited he'd be when I suddenly thought of a problem. The thing came with no box and no papers and no extra cylinder. I remembered the cylinder screw showed sign of manipulation. I thought to my self, "Oh, crap! I don't know if it has a LR cylinder or a Magnum cylinder. Is there anyway to tell? The cylinder has no indications on it. I stuck a 22lr in and it seemed a bit looser than in my Taurus. Is there any way to be sure? |

For some reason, I seem to recall that Colt identified their cylinders by having ".22 magnum" (Or something similar) stamped on it. Do you have any .22 magnum rounds? You might want to see if one fits.....
ETA: Check out this thread from the Colt Forums......it looks like the cylinders are marked and on the .22 magnum cylinders the case heads are not recessed: Colt Forums |

Dagnabit!
The barrel just says 22cal, the cylinder doesn't say anything but from what it says on Colt Forum it looks like a magnum cylinder. I really wanted it to be a LR. I'm gonna take it to the gun store and have them take out a 22 mag to test if it fits. I don't have 22 mags handy because I've never believed in them. I prefer 22LR. |
