I'm looking at the stainless Competition #10112 vs. the Hunter 10118. Any thoughts on what the difference is other that the sights and grips??

Which one do you think would be more accurate? Is the balance OK on these?

KYGlock,

The only other difference I know of, other than the ones you mentioned, is that the Hunter model has the fluted barrel and the competition has the slabside barrel. Accuracy should be equal for both models. I have the Hunter model myself and love it, other than the V-notch rear sight. I'll probably put a standard rear site on it at some point.

I like both, so save up and get both.  As for the V notch sight, call Ruger and they will send you a square notch sight at no charge.

I have both and there is little (if any) difference in accuracy.

How do they balance gentlemen? I had the chance to shoot a friend's std tapered barrel MK2 last weekend and loved it. Does the longer bull barrel feel front heavy at all?

Unfortunately I don't know of any shops in the St Pete FL area that have a competition or hunter I can check out.

I own (3) Mark 2's and they all have the target sights. I have a friend who bought the Hunter, as is not happy with the sight picture. I have fired it several times and I can tell you that for target work it is not as finite. It probably is good for squirrels in the woods, but for target work and plinking go with the competition model or a target model. Here are my competition alongside an old stainless target I bought back about 1981 and a 4" bull. (Stoeger Luger & a Beretta mouse gun thrown in for good measure)

The competition feels slightly more front heavy than the target. It seems to be better balanced in the hand.
