I am posting this for anyone else that has had the same problem as i did with my AA conversion kit. This kit was for my Glock 23. I have had the kit for over a year and with the recent shortage of .22 ammo i started using whatever i could find and started having lots of problems with double feeding and jams. One of the members here,VASCAR2, I think. Gave me the suggestions of polishing the barrel and guide. This post is of what i used and how i did it.
http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0618.jpg I first started with polishing the barrel using Jewelers Roush. http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0606.jpg http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0615.jpg along with the barrel guide and tried polishing the main spring guide http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0607.jpg Dremmel used and buffing pads http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0619.jpg i also cut the extractor groove out a little. We'll see if that helps. With just the polishing my pistol shot awesome and didn't jam. I hope this can help any others. http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss256/556hollowtip/IMG_0620.jpg and the finished product. |
| on the pic that shows the rod and spring you gently pry the end off with a flat head screwdriver and work it till you can basically unwind it off. as for the plastic part that fits into the slide when you put in on the frame i didnt look to see how it comes off. |
| Before i had polished i called AA and asked the same question and the tech or whoever told me not to do that as the slide would not fully close and could run the risk of having it blow up. I typically used the Rem GB but as to not being able to find any i was lucky to get some federal match ammo they sell at Wally world. The federal are a solid lead, 40 grain i think and come in a brick of 350 i believe. The AA guy had also recommended these to me as they had made mention that with the recent ammo B.S. that remington has started to buy brass thats cheaper quality and have had people call about cracked/splitting on the casings.I went through a full box last saturday and went awesome and only had two fail to extract. The rest shot great. I didnt do any accuracy tests but i was only shooting at metal targets about 20 yards away and they seemed pretty decent. |
