Anyone have some experience with a red dot and this pistol? I know you can get rails that mount to the top so it only makes sense alot of people have tried this. Do you lose your zero each time you take the gun apart to clean? |
![]() Dude, let's see some pics when you get it all done, sounds sweet. After having that much into a .22lr pistol it kinda does make sense to spend the extra $30 and get the rail that has the rear sight built in. |
| The rail with sight has been the hold-up. My Buckmark also has very nice rosewood grips with a thumbrest, not exactly what I want in the long run. I'm thinking just a set of rubber grips with a moderate thumbrest and finger grooves. I had some Pachmayrs on a Ruger MKII that I liked a lot. Pics to come when it's done, and I want to shoot some accuracy test targets for before and after too. |
| i have a tactical solution rail $40.00 and simons red dot $40.00 shootin federal bulk ammo 25 yards all 10 shots within 1inch group very acurate when cleaning i be carefull and only remove rear screw of the rail and the barrel screw and leave rail attached with front screw on the barrel |

As a fellow Buckmark owner myself, please allow me to suggest there may be no need to disassemble them for cleaning. Generally speaking, most .22 ammo brands shoot fairly clean. I clean my bore from the muzzle end & then just spray out the back end of the slide with some sort of cleaning agent. In fact, in over 10 years of owning my Buckmark, I've never had it apart, ever. I hasten to add that this does NOT mean my Buckmark isn't clean, either. I keep ALL my guns spotless after they're shot. My .o2 |

Bob, how the heck do you clean out the firing pin channel and recoil spring assembly without removing the slide? I perfected a way to clean my Buckmark that only requires me to remove the rear rail screw and the barrel/frame screw. That way, my Propoint stays zeroed. Haven't had any problems in years doing this. Love this pistol by the way. 1911 grip and controls makes this my main .22 trainer. http://whalendesign.com/photos/buckmark1.jpg That's a pretty good idea. |

So a tactical solution rail and a burris fastfire would be the lightest most rigid way to go? That would be around $200, but it may be worth it to make the buckmark even funner to shoot .22lr I would think so... this setup is imperceptable in weight. Does not change the handling at all. Plus the fast fire and tacsol rail are quality pieces of equipment. Should last. I'm telling you, this is now my most fun handgun to shoot... - AG |
