Ruger MKII 22/45

Well...finally finished the 1911 grip mod on this project.  Very pleased with how it came out.  Really flush fit with the panels and lower.

Here's the finished product (Please excuse the poor lighting...and crappy pics):

Other mods I did for this gun:
- Threaded barrel
- Painted upper OD (Duracoat)
- Sling Shot mod
- Internals replaced with Volquartsen parts.

Nice job. It looks great !
The grip mod is a real improvement for any 22/45.

Please explain the single shot mod, did you put a slide lock on it?

A mod that allows you to release the bolt by simply retracting it like most standard semi autos rather than needing to use the bolt release which tends to be stiff on Ruger 22/45s.

I assume you mean "sling" and not "single".

NICE!

Do you have instructions for the grip-mod?

Some Strider GG's would look sweet on one of those...

I didn't use a dremel though.  Milling machine was used....made for a smoother finish.

I used a milling machine on mine, also.  The 1911 grip mod and "sling shot" bolt mod greatly improve the ergonomics of the 22/45.

wetidlerjr - thanks for posting pics of your mod.  the 22/45 i have has the older type lower and flared out near the slide release and safety.  i actually had to have the upper backside portion of the panels filed down to accomodate for this flare out. on the more recent 22/45s and on your model, the lower doesn't have that flare out...it's pretty much flush and makes for a helluva lot easier to perform the grip mod and no need to file down the backside of the panels

BTW...those are nice lookin' guns you have there

Thanks ! The only problem I have is that the "sling-shot mod" didn't work on the blue 22/45 but I have to take it down to replace the hammer pin anyway so I'll troubleshoot that when I do. I think something is rubbing or has a burr, etc.
