New little toy I picked up today. Plase excuse the photo as it is a bit blurry. I did not get the tripod out for it. Will try a better shot later. Hi Standard H-D Military, about a 1949-1950 build. Will take it out later this AM and try it out to see how well it shoots. Anyone have any resources they would like to pass on please let me know, I have never had one of these before, thanks.

This is actually a really good pic.  I was admiring it earlier.  If you can get one at the same time of day again, try for a slightly sharper shot and turn the knife juuussst enough to cut the glare from the boss.

Other than that, the setup for the pic is gorgeous!  Good job overall!

Thanks, I took it at 1 AM, it is all artificial light and photoshop, I was just too tired to do a real good setup and was about to fall on my face

LOL....+10 for dedication.

Here's my rescued Pony that I redid a few months ago:

It's really hard to beat the classics!

What do you think would be the blasphemy level of refinishing this one? I have to recrown it and replace the takedown lever as it is anyways.

ETA Nice pistol BTW.

Looks that a refinish would be pretty blasphemous.

HOWEVER...if you have a GOOOOD man redo it in the ORIGINAL style of finish.....

well....far be it from me to stop you....

As it is, quite honestly, I would be more inclinded to find an old worn holster and belt to match....

that would be VERY classy.  Old, worn but loved leather always is.

Truthfully, guns usually are much classier when they have honest wear on them.

My Colt was TOO beat up though....it didn't have honest wear....it was abused....there is a difference, of course.

What do you think about the classic leather idea?

I agree with you on the holster, I think I will leave the original bluing alone on this one. What would be a god holster for this? Just a standard leather flap holster?

I have an "SH" Series Sharpshooter that I absolutely love.

I'm on the prowl for a Hamden Victor

Thanks, that gives me quite an idea. An old Army buddy of mine makes holsters, and is damn good. Looks like I am going to commission a modern functional, yet classic looking holster from him.

I do need to reshoot that photo too, after shooting the pistol today and oiling it down the finish looks 100% better.
