Hi, just picked up a used Buckmark and it is having frequent failures to eject.

While trying to troubleshoot, I loaded up a magazine and manually cycled the slide back and forth briskly to see what would happen.  I was expecting to see the cartridges shoot out forcefully to the right.  Instead I saw them dribble out weakly and some even dribbled out the left side.  Only a couple shot out with any noticeable force.

Is what I did even a valid test of anything?  I tried the same in my Sig P299 and Ruger 10/22 and every cartridge ejected forcefully and consistently.

Can anyone else with a Buckmark let me know if what I'm seeing is abnormal?

Thanks

Finally figured out how to remove the extractor from the bolt.  Anyhow I took a close look at the 'hook' end of the extractor and the edges were heavily rounded.  Can anyone please confirm that the extractor should be sharp/squared at the ends?

Thanks

The extractor should indeed be square and sharp. However, I don't believe you can diagnose that problem by ejecting live rounds, manually.

Ensure the chamber is clean, and try it at the range to be sure.

If you discover ejection problems, I believe I have a spare new one out in my shop. Yours for a SASE if you need it.

(Browning had some weak extractor issues a few years ago, which allowed the extractor to actually break under normal use.... which is why I have the extra. I only had one break in several Buckmarks)

Good to know. I have been very satisfied with my Buckmark Standard and anticipated no problems with it. I'll keep the extractor in mind now.

I intend to keep this pistol for a long time.   Thanks OdT

Here's what I found in the shop

The plunger looks like it might be used.... the spring I can't tell.... the extractor looks brand new...

Wish I could recall how and why..... but that was several Buckmarks ago. I'll guess I ordered extra in anticipation.

Let me know.
