I shot my SR22 this morning for the first time. I was testing for reliabliity and function and not accuracy ( I'll do that next time I fired a minimum of 50 rds of each type and more than that of some of the bulk ammo. This was one dirty puppy when I was done..LOL Here is a run down of what I tried : Federal Lightning - no issues Federal bulk - one ftf, fired on the second strike CCI Velocitor - no issues CCI Stingers - no issues, much fun ! CCI Mini Mags - no issues CCI Tactical - no issues Federal Automatch - no issues Remington Goldens - no issues Winchester Super X - no issues Winchester Dynapoint - no issues Winchester 555 - no issues Winchester M22 - no issues That's it, not one fail to feed or eject. My barrel did not loosen at all so hopefully that will be a non issue for everyone now. My serial number is in the 16,000 range so maybe they are using loc-tite on them now. I also checked the slide and there was no irregular wear so this one iis a keeper. My safety /decocker and double action pull were very stiff so I fired a couple hundred rds working the decocker and firing double action. They both smoothed out pretty nice. I'll post some pics for accuracy after the next time out. Very happy with this little pistol so far, seems like a great gun. |

Comes with two magazines and both flat and finger grip mag floorplates. I got 3 extras from Ruger's website as I couldn't find any in stock anywhere else.
Looks similar to a P22, but is very different inside & has an aluminum slide vs P22's zinc "pot metal" slide (which is known to crack and come apart). Buckmark is more accurate, but, IMO, is hard to compare to as they are pretty much apples & oranges. |

Good review. Can anyone compare this to a buckmark or a p22? I am pretty sure this is what I want but was just curious. How many mags did the gun come with? Are there more available for a decent price? I actually had both a P22 and Buckmark. The P22 I had was very fussy on what brand of ammo it liked and I only had it a couple weeks and traded it in. When I took it apart after the first time out I noticed the slide was all gouged to hell on the inside. Thats when I did some more reading and read about the pot metal slide, slides breaking etc.. I decided I did not want to deal with the issues and traded it away for Buckmark. The Buckmark was a great shooting pistol but was heavy and kind of a pain in the ass like the Ruger Mark 1/2/3 to strip down to clean. Iu sold that one to a buddy and bought a AA conversion kit for my Glock and was happy with that and still am but I wanted a dedicated 22 pistol as well. I was looking around and reading reviews for a couple weeks and was just about to pull the trigger on a single six when the SR22 came out. Read the early reviews, saw that it feeds pretty much anything and bought one. It comes with 2 10rd mags and spares are only available right now through Ruger for around $35 and supposed to be available soon on their website if they aren't already. they are selling these SR22's as fast as they can make them so it might be a couple months before they show up online at the various vendors. I figure the will probalby sell for somewhere between $25 and $30 when the dust settles. Great little pistol though, very fun to shoot and about the easiest 22 you'll ever see to take apart. |

Who do you think is making them for Ruger ? I'm thinking maybe Mecgar might be making them. They have that nice blued finish and are well made like the ones they put out. |

I tried to wait for a threaded barrel version and until I paid off 2 other handguns I just bought this past month...but the price at KYguns got the best of me. Ordered a SR22 pistol today from them after talking to my local FFL that wanted an additional $40 and gave me an estimated delivery date of a month due to all of the SR22 orders made at SHOT show taxing production. Can't wait to mess with it after it arrives this week. Fondled them at a couple places locally that had it and was trying not to spend the money on another plinker...but my curiosity and desires got the best of me yet again.
Liked the fit/finish for what it is, and it seems to be a pretty solid piece other than the few guys having issues with the barrel screw that requires red Loctite apparently. Good to hear it's eating everything people are throwing at it. |

I read on another site from someone who called them that Ruger is using loc-tite on their barrels. The latest reports I have seen from owners since I received mine last week is the barrels are on good and tight. I don't know if Ruger was using loc-tite from the beginning or a few early release ones just got by because of someones negligence. It does appear that the 3 reports I read were from people who had received ones with a yellow dot which would seem to indicate one persons error. I checked mine with a wrench every 4 mags when I put through about 700 rds the other day and it didn't budge. i wouldn't worry too much about the barrel as it was probably just a isolated occurence. Just check it when you get it and every few mags the first time out. If hasn't moved in several hundred rds its probably not going to loosen up or just give it a quick check every time you clean it. |

It's possible that Mec-Gar might be making the mags, but the only markings are from Ruger, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Ruger is making thier own. The mags I have are all really nice in fit & finish and have fed great. Thus far, the only time it didn't go bang was on a dud round, not the fault of the pistol or mags.
This is one greedy lil' pistol, as it has consistantly eaten everything I can throw at it, even junk from the misc rounds can (odds & ends that I reserve for use in my revolvers as I wouldn't trust them in any of my other Semi-Auto .22's). Even sub-sonics run just fine in mine. The only rounds I've found that wouldn't cycle the slide have been Colibri & Super Colibri rounds, which is to be expected. I can't wait for the threaded barrel to be available (it should have come out with one in the first damned place!), this is going to rock as a suppressor host! |

I know for a fact that the Ruger SR-9 mags are made by Mec-Gar. I wouldn't be surprised if they made these for them as well. |

That may be, as I said, but most of my Mec-Gar magazines have some marking, somewhere on them, to say that. The SR22 mags do not, or at least none that I can find, thus far. Believe me, I have nothing against Mec-Gar magazines, I have quite a few for several of my different pistols from many manufacturers, & as a rule, they work great, & have great fit & finish. |
