Hey guys I bought a Taurus PT1911 a while back and everything was great... until I got to handle my friends colt.

His grip safety is MUCH lighter than mine and I really prefer it that way.  So what say you?

Heavy grip-safety or light?

P.S. If I want to make it lighter how do I go about it? DIY or send it to a smith?

Take your pistol apart and bend your leaf spring so it puts less pressure on the grip safety.

Bend only the one finger.

On the right side of the leaf spring.

It's the only one pointing backwards as it sits in the pistol.

Bend the rightmost sear spring leaf in toward the front of the pistol.
