| Does anyone have one. I am particulary interested in hearing about the black ceramic coated version and how the finish is holding up. Everthing that I have read about them has been mostly good. |

See thread here for picture ... It's my every day carry weapon ... I haven't had it long but so far so good ... I love it!! |

If the OP is talking about the 2010 Valor, then the coating is not the same. Everyone is still waiting on actual usage history on the new black ones. It's only been about a month now the blacks have been available, give it a little more time and people will be reporting back. |
| The finish isn't as strong as melonite or IONBond, but it is supposed to be better than cerakote. The finish shouldn't worry you, the Valor is a nice pistol, the only thing that holds me back is the price. If you can find a new one for around $1500-$1600 I think it would be worth it. |
As the earlier poster stated, the 2010 finish (they call it 'Duty Coat' now) is different from the CeraKote used on 2009 guns. The manufacturer claims it is much better but it's too new to get any feedback from the field yet. The list price for the Duty Coat over the plain the stainless model is around $300-$350 depending on model. .
Other options: Get the plain one and send it off to IonBond for DLC or get it Melonited. Cheaper still but with a little risk, get a used 2009 with the CeraKote. Also I guess you're aware that the Valor comes in two flavors: the full size and the VBOB. Both are available in the same finishes. They are getting more expensive but they are very nice guns. |
