I am in the market for a SA loaded 1911 and went down to the local funshop.  There was one there in SS for $759.  It was made in Brazil and everything looked good on it.  I have seen quite a bit of these around.

Then I see the same SS loaded model, but for $839.  I go over to look at it, and it turns out that the only noticable differences was that it was made in the U.S. and had adjustable sights as opposed to the night sights on the Brazil model.  Also, the slide was much tighter.

Question:  Is the U.S. made one really 70-80 bucks better?  What other differences are there that I did not notice?  Thanks.

A made in USA Loaded or "NM" prefix Springfield should benefit from a one piece Storm Lake barrel compared to the 2-piece "I have no idea who makes" barrel.  NM pistols usually benefit from the assembler taking a little more time to fit the parts.

The pistol you looked at was a Loaded Target, I'm not sure, does it come with night sights?  I've never been a fan of the bomar cut rear adjustable sights, and if they aren't night sights I would argue with the shop owner that the two models should be the same price.  The Target usually have Springfield's "Black stainless" finish, which does not provide any better protection, just looks cool.

Everything on the the NM American made Loaded is better as said above they get a lot more hand fitting & extra time to ensure quality. Here's mine get the piostol it's one of the best 1911's on the market FOR THE PRICE & to get the same feature's on any other 1911 would cost you an additional Grand. I've got several top teir 1911's & the loaded hang's in there side by side, accuracy, dependability etc..GET IT!!! YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT :) This baby is a 1911 sleeper actually worth a lot more money than they want for it...NO SHIT

I'd pay more just so it didn't say "Imbel Brazil" on the side.

PRIME word here is ASSEMBLED in the United State's :)

Excately & American's have more pride in firearm's made for American's why should Braziling's give a shit about the fit & finish. I have a friend with the B. made Loaded after he checked mine out  & shot it...he wanted to cry...Difference...NIGHT & DAY. QUALITY & TRASH !~!~! i'M NOT SAYING ALL B. MADE ARE TRASH BUT MOST OF THE ONE'S I INSPECTED WERE :(

If you can get the one without the IMBEL rollmark, do it.

I have a Springfield Loaded that was marked IMBEL and I will be sending it a fourth time to SA for FTF issues. Sure I have not paid out of pocket for repairs and SA's customer service is awesome, but I wasted a lot of ammo to try the gun to make it to the 200 malfunction-free round count, not to mention I have paid for 5 different magazine brands to make sure it wasn't a mag issue. They've replaced the barrel with a nicer one-piece now with a new bushing and link, replaced the extractor twice and did a throat and polish before the barrel was replaced (which they now might do for the new barrel), refit the slide, and recut the breech. A lot of time was wasted and I sadly I bought a SA GI earlier that has trouble feeding FMJs that I have yet to address.

Sorry about your Imbel Loaded. I have fired approximately 300+ rounds through mine and it has ran flawless.

My Brazil made light weight is a kick ass piece of machinery. No problems with it other than the MIM ejector breaking a pin. pistol worked fine , I discovered the ;pin was broken when i cleaned it.

Nothing wrong with Imbel. They make one of the best milled FAL receivers out there.

I agre that the NM assembled in the U.S. tend to have better fit and finish. With a choice, I would spend the extra and get the NM.

Mine only had to go back twice, but yeah I hear you.  I wish that it would just run right out of the box.
