Can the grips on the Springfield 1911 GI model be switched out for other after market grips?

I haven't changed mine out, but see no reason why the grip screw bushings are anything other than standard. Short answer...yes.

ETA: if you want slim grips, you'll have to change the bushings.

Yes, they can be switched out.

I changed mine out to a pair of old Keyes plastic ones from a Remington Rand circa WWII. Fit perfectly.

as long as you get the correct size you should be fine if you get the loaded version i believe they send you a set of replacements too. at least in the mil spec they do
