I have a SA Loaded that I am thinking of sending in to the custom shop for the "TRP" package.  Is this worth it?  Am I putting too much into a $600 gun?

Are their other gunsmiths with quality work, etc.

Thanks.

you can sell your loaded and use the $765 +shipping to buy a new TRP.

you wont have to wait months on the custom shop, which may or may not be taking any new work

I hear very good things about SA's custom work, but unless the TRP package + cost of the Loaded is about equal with buying a TRP from a well-priced distributor, then it's not worth it, IMO.

I almost did the same thing, and I'm glad I didn't.

It will never be worth what you invested in it.

Nah, just find some things you want done to it and get those done instead.

If I had you Loaded and wanted something better I'd either sell it and get something else or:

Remove ILS components in MSH, maintain MSH housing.
Replace FLGR with SS GI guide rod setup.
Replace barrel and bushing with something like a Kart barrel with a professionally fitted bushing.
Get the slide fitted to the frame.
Single sided thumb safety from Wilson Combat.
Wilson Combat bulletproof extractor.
25LPI checkered front strap
Trigger job
VZ Grips
Re-finish gun

That might cost more than the TRP package, the frame fitting, barrel, and re-finish is the expensive stuff.

Slide fitting and new barrel aren't really needed. With most Loaded's, they can shoot awesome with the standard barrel and a properly fit bushing. Lately, Springfield has been shipping pretty loose bushings for the sake of having them drop in. Go to EGW's website with some barrel and slide dimensions, and your pistol will shoot much better for less than $30 shipped to your door.

I agree with most of the rest of your list though
