I am thinking of purchasing a 45 and if so its gonna be a 1911.  So I think I want a hi-cap.
Tried a freind's Para Ordinance out at the range and liked it enough.  Don't know what model his is, he bought used and its custom, but it holds 14 rounds.
Looked on Para's website and they have a few to choose from.

So who else makes a high capacity 45 besides Para Ordinance?
Also any reasons why you would choose one make over another are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Check out STI. They dominate the IPSC/USPSA market because they are lighter weight and better made than ParaOrdnance (STI is CNC machined from billet vs the investment casting used by Para). There is also the Israeli made BUL, sold under a few brand names, but i would look first and foremost at STI. The only advantage of the Para is that it is cheaper.

Wow.  STI makes some nice looking pistols.
Unfortunatley, I cannot afford.
Thanks for the link though.

STI
Para
and (once upon a time,) Springfield Armory.

I'd go used Springer on a budger.

Don't care for hi-cap 1911's in .45 acp ......... too much bulk.

Don not purchase a SA high Cap.  If your going to put any kind of ammo down range you will be sending the frame back for cracks.

Only High cap worth purchasing is a STI type.

Thanks for all the advice.
I wish I could afford STI.
IF I get a hi cap its gonna have to be Para.
Or I scrap the idea and just go with a single stack.
Then my search starts all over.

What about Para?  Any reasons to avoid them?
My friend is a big fan of his.

RIA before para.

Para offers a nice warranty, too bad they never let you use it, or rather too bad it costs more to use it then to fix it yourself.

I had considered one of their guns till I read all the recent horror stories about their customer service.
IF the one you get works, then you are fine, but if there is something wrong with it, you will be stuck fixing it yourself, is the basic jist of all the forum comments.

Gotcha. Thanks for the warning.

So suppose I decide to go single stack, and the budget is aound $1,000, what would you all recommend?
I know I'm turing into a pain in the ass.

Thanks.  I already started another thread asking what to get for a single stack around $1,000.
Thinking Springfield Armory for the value.  Probably a loaded, I like the two tone.
