It is a "parts" gun built on a Caspian S/S frame.

The problem is, with a round in the chamber, cocked and locked, and a mag loaded to capacity inserted and locked into the magwell, when trying to shoot the gun, I cannot get the hammer to drop (yes with the safety off).
This is the same with 7 & 8 round mags.
If I remove 1 round from the mags, the gun shoots fine and is awesome (runs great).
This happens with mags that have proven successful in my Kimber and my RIA - they are Mec-Gar 7 & 8 rounders, CM Shooting Star 8 rounders and Novak 8 rounders.

Anybody ever hear of something like this before?
Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Is the trigger traveling the same distance with the mag in/out?

If you have an adjustable trigger stop, back it off a little bit.  It is not letting the trigger go far enough.

The trigger moves but the hammer doesn't fall, or the trigger feels like the safety lock is on? This is just WAG but I suspect if its the former, the mag, when loaded to capacity, is interfering with the disconnector. Field strip the pistol and look into the magwell and see if the forward edge of the disconnector is protruding slightly into the magwell. If it is, you'll need to put a slight bevel on the offending edge of the disconnector.

I was thinking the same thing.

I've never run into this kind of problem before
