I may have found the next 1911 that I want to start saving for.  I read an article on it it it sounds like
a great pistol.
Semi-custom build forged frame no MIM parts, etc.  The only thing I couldn't get information
on whether it had the ghey series 80 internal safety.  Someone in the know please tell me that I
down not.

I've seen the 2010 stainless models in the $1300 range on GB.  Black ones aren't out yet but will be several hundreds more.  I'm waiting on a decent deal on a black VBOB which may be like waiting for gold to come back to $800/oz.

It's a good choice and I think you'll really like it.

The only minor negative I can say about mine is that the finish doesn't seem to be very tough.

The new 2010 treatment is supposed to be more durable.

Or IonBond. The new finish is supposed to be similar to one of these.

They call it 'Isonite' but I understand it's Melonite.  I've seen these folks mentioned in several places but have no experience with them personally:
Coal Creek Armory

I don't expect the Cerakote on my Valor to hold up all that well although it doesn't see much in the way of hard use.  If I were to have it stripped and start over I think I would go with the Melonite because it's quite a bit cheaper than Ionbond.  Not sure what to do with the small parts that can't take the heat from the Melonite process though.

Anybody care to post pics on how their Cerakote is wearing?

There's a gunsmith that's a Mod on a 1911 forum I frequent that offers a treatment that he calls Hard Hat.  It's supposed to be
at least as good as Ion Bond, possibly better.

Once my Valor starts looking a little ratty, I plan to contact him.
