Ok...so i'm looking to buy a Kimber Warrior by this summer hopefully but have always wanted to try building one myself slowly and figure I might give it a try after I get the Warrior. Is this something that is really difficult to do? I just figured it would be kind of cool to try it and would give me a better understanding of the 1911 platform. I've never built one before and understand its alot of fitting and patience but thats kind of what i'm looking forward to.

Basically what i'm asking is wheres the best place to start? Any good companies to use for parts, or to stay away from? Good books or DVD's or anything that will help along the way?

Good DVD

Start with a good pistol like a SA Mil-spec and only use reputable companies for parts like C&S, EGW, Ed Brown, Wilson, NightHawk etc.
