| Back in the late eighties or early 90's a friend bought a Delta Elite.........didn't they use a dual recoil spring assembley.............? |

Delta Elite - In 1987 Colt rescued the 10mm Auto cartridge from an early demise by chambering the round in its 1911 Government Model. Dubbed the "Delta Elite," Colt advertised the gun's hard-hitting power and flat trajectory.
The Delta used a dual recoil spring setup rated at 23lbs, but even with the stronger spring early guns developed problems with frame cracking. Cracks appeared in the corner of the slide stop hole, but Colt was able to come up with a simple fix by removing the metal just above the hole turning it into an open-topped notch. Though this solved the frame cracking issues, the Delta was never able to totally overcome the continuing rumors of poor durability and stories of guns being "beaten up" by the 10mm cartridge. found this..................... and this.............. Recoil Spring W.C. Wolff Company offers single recoil springs for the Delta Elite 10mm pistol. When using a Wolff single recoil spring to replace the original dual-springs, a standard diameter Colt (1911 series) recoil spring guide MUST be used in place of the smaller guide supplied with the Delta Elite. Full length guide rod systems may also be used, provided they do not reduce the recoil space. The smaller internal spring supplied with the pistol must not be used with the Wolff single recoil spring. Note: The dual factory springs are rated at 23 pounds. Reduced Power..: 18.5, 20 & 22 Lb. Factory Standard: 23 Lb. Extra Power.......: 24. 26 & 28 Lb. |

Colt had a love affair going with dual springs for a while. The Delta Elites came with dual springs, the Mustangs and the Pony's came with dual springs. Even my 9x23mm conversion came with dual springs.
My new New Agent has dual springs. I have gone with single springs on everything except for the New Agent. |
