Hey guys,  So my girlfriend and I are about to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and I have asked for a new holster for my Springfield TRP.

I want a nice one that doesn't sell for more than $75 if that is even possible (we are on a budget, trying to buy a house).  These are what I'm looking at:

Galco N3 Holster
BlackHawk CQC Leather
Comp-Tac Spartan
Galco Leather OWB

I'd like some input.  I don't currently have a good holster for my 1911, this won't be for carbine courses or CCW, this will be for range, occasional carry, and I do A LOT of 12-20 mile hikes and I like having a holster on me that I can sweat on and won't limit my range of motion over long distances.  I have a Serpa that I've had for YEARS (since my first 1911) and I'm going to give it to a friend for his first 1911, I would prefer to move away from plastic, I think plastic holsters should be used on plastic guns, like the MTAC Minotaur I have for my XD (great IWB by the way).

I am hoping to get some direction on the holster above, and I'm open for recommendations as I have seen several nice IWB and OWB holsters in the $80 range recommended here over the last few months, so I'm not married to these holsters.

If I have to go north of $100 I will be looking at the Milt Sparks Summer II or this 5 leather recommended by Jason Burton.  I don't have the funds for a nice VM-II right now, so this needs to be a good holster in the mean time.  I am probably leaning toward an OWB setup due to my hiking, but I like IWB as well.

So what say you all?

Glaco Leather OWB all the way I love it.  It is comfortable, concealable, and really holds my pistol in place.

I carry my G32 and my SA 1911 both in that holster.  Here they are....

Look up UBGholsters.com.  The owner is a Marine Corps Buddy of mine and he makes quality holsters at a good price.

I like the IWB Striker on his website.  I'll keep it in mind, thanks for the recommendation.

I kinda figured you'd say that, in fact it's the only reason I included that holster in my options, I figured that if you liked it I probably would too.

I got a Blackhawk CQC for a Gl*ck several years ago, and the leather is just too soft for me.  It doesn't retain the gun particularly well, it tends to move around on my belt a lot because the belt loop is too flexible, and the sweat shield is too easily folded over.

I like the design but the material sucked.

Good to know, thanks for the feedback.

They could have changed things since then, so I'd recommend getting one out of the box before buying, if possible.

Both the Galco Concealable and Combat Master are very good off the shelf holsters.

I have a TT Gunleather holster on order for my Hi-Power.  Down side is it's about a 6 month wait. (About the same for Milt Sparks)  I will most likely order another for my 1911's in a bit.  A little more expensive, but so were my 1911's.  Plastic is OK for my Gl**ks, but I just wanted something a little nicer for some of my other pistols.  I like the snap-removable feature as well, and that style holster is a little harder to find.  I also considered the Comp-Tac Gladiator.  Kinda like an MTAC, but OWB.  Just decided I wanted all leather instead.

I myself do not like snap in concealment because if you have to draw in a hurry or silently you cannot do that.  Snap is for open carry when people see your weapon a good holster does not need a snap and if you are concealed no one should know you have a weapon so taking it away should not be the issue.  Unless you are doing back flips

Artsohc you will love the Galco holster once the leather is broken in it is great for carry OWB.

Take another look at the pic.  It's an open-top holster, no thumb break.  The snaps are simply for attaching and removing it from the belt without having to take your belt off.  I wouldn't use this particular holster for CCW, I prefer IWB for that.  I just wanted something for general range and outdoor use, and this fit the bill for me.

My bad I never looked at the link I just read snap and snarled because I do not like retention for concealment.  My apologizes my good sir...
